Apple and pear overnight oats

The clue is in the name that these oats need to be made the night before you intend to enjoy them.

That said, they take just 10 minutes to prepare so couldn't be easier to whip up from scratch in a hurry before bedtime.

Measure out the oats and place them into a large container with the granola dust and a pinch of cinnamon. The container must have an airtight lid that fits.

Pour the measured milk over the dry ingredient, then mix everything and cover with the secured lid.

Place the prepared oat mixture in the fridge overnight to set. The oats will absorb all of the liquid to form a thick, pudding-like texture that's more indulgent than porridge.

In the morning, grate in most of the apple and pear and give the mixture a good stir, adding a splash more milk to loosen, if needed.

Transfer to bowls or portable containers, and top with a little more grated fruit, a sprinkle of cinnamon and a little more yoghurt.
