Running Point centers on Isla Gordon (Hudson), who, a scandal forces her brother to resign, is appointed President of the Los Angeles Wave, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.

The new series will debut in 2025 and also stars Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, Max Greenfield, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Roberto Sanchez, Uche Agada and Dane DiLiegro.

Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen are also serving as writers and executive producers, with David as showrunner. In addition to starring, Kate will be an executive producer as well.

James Ponsoldt has been tapped to direct the first two of ten episodes.

Find out more about the characters below…

Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon: The only sister in a family of competitive brothers, Isla Gordon has been overlooked and underappreciated her whole life. But when she is unexpectedly appointed President of the Los Angeles Waves, she finally has the chance to prove she deserves to be part of the family business as much as everyone else.

Brenda Song as Ali Lee: Born and raised in the South Side of Chicago, Ali Lee is Chief of Staff of the Waves, and knows where the bodies are buried. She understands the complex politics surrounding the Gordon family, having known Isla since they shared a dorm room in college. She’s funny, tough, and even the biggest guy on the team is scared of her.

Drew Tarver as Sandy Gordon: The Chief Financial Officer of the Waves, Sandy Gordon thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room, and is often right. Hopelessly unathletic and bad at sports, Sandy felt alienated by his family his entire life. He now works hard to prove he can return the franchise to greatness — or at least make them profitable.

Scott MacArthur as Ness Gordon: The emotionally sensitive General Manager of the Los Angeles Waves, Ness Gordon has an infectious enthusiasm for ideas both good and bad. Ness is a former player himself who burned out after one season in the pros. Now he yearns for greatness in the front office to make up for his unremarkable career on the court, and to impress his siblings.

Fabrizio Guido as Jackie Moreno: Jackie is a Waves stadium popcorn vendor. His life changes forever when he’s thrust into the inner circle of his favorite team — and has the opportunity to work his way up the organization from the ground floor.

Toby Sandeman as Marcus Winfield: He is a once-in-a- generation talent with two championship rings, two Olympic gold medals, and 12 All-Star Game visits to prove it. But Marcus has mentally checked out from the Waves, and his lack of leadership has started to affect the team.

Chet Hanks as Travis Bugg: Travis is also ruffling feathers on the squad. Travis is the team’s point guard… who also happens to moonlight as an unsuccessful rapper. Although Travis is a huge distraction on the court, he’s an even bigger problem for Isla off the court.

Max Greenfield as Lev Levy: Isla Gordon’s fiancé who is a good-natured pediatrician who enthusiastically supports his love.

Keyla Monterroso Mejia as Ana Moreno: Jackie’s cousin, Ana Moreno, is a smart and ambitious personal injury attorney who’s always looking for an angle.

Roberto Sanchez as Stephen Ramirez: He is the intimidating head of the Waves board with an old-fashioned, no-nonsense approach to his job. Stephen has been with the team through generations of Gordons and serves as a constant reminder of the old guard. So he makes Isla feel desperate to prove she’s more than just Jack Gordon’s little daughter.

Uche Agada as Dyson Gibbs: He is an eager and naive rookie who just wants to prove himself in his new gig after Isla brings him up from the D-League.

Dane DiLiegro as Badrag Knauss: He is an Eastern European Waves player. Although massive in stature and at times quite blunt, Badrag often surprises the team with his thoughtfulness.
