Normally HD runs the double bag of Kingsford on sale
for the holiday. No reduced price yet. I only have 20 double
bags left from last year....

Was in a HD yesterday. They had quite a few pallets of KBB in the back of the garden center.
I assumed it was for their upcoming Memorial Day sale.

Costco's sale of K Comp ends to day - $13.99 for double bags - I get that instead.

I was never a "buy a whole skid when it's on sale" sort of fella. I must not cook near as much as some of you guys do. I get 3 or 4 doubles and say "that ought to hold me for a while". I cook every weekend, but I'm just a backyard cook and a middling one at that.

Lowes has the Kingsford sale too. It's usually the same price or very close. Luckily I have a HD and Lowes that are only about 1.5mi apart. I hit them both for 12 bags at a time. I think the limit is still 4-6 per visit.

Yes, I'm with ya. This is my go to brand/sale. 37lbs for $14... I like it for grilling on the Webers and my Assassin 24 seems to prefer K Comp. As do I...

My local Walmart has 2-15 pound bags of Kingsford for $7.88. They also have 2-16.5 pound bags of Kingsford for $12. ??.

I've had reason to go to Lowes the last two Saturdays. One was to buy two new water hoses and the return trip to return one for breaking the 1st time I used it AND to ask why they over charged me $16 on two hoses. They credited my card for the diff. They had pallets of KBB all over the entrance with no price posted. They also had acouple of Royal Oak out. Again no price both times I was there. I walked right by them all. Not going to inquire in a store how much. When they post a price...maybe.

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm getting really low on my stash, and I've been building a new area to store charcoal and pellets! All the Memorial Day HD ads are showing it at $20. Which is pretty annoying since I refused to buy it at $13 when I assumed it would be going down more.

Buying charcoal always confuses me. Walmart has 15.0 and 15.4 lb bags; Home Depot has 11.1 and 18.6 lb bags, then Walmart had 16.7 lbs bags. Some times they sell it in 2-packs, sometimes individually.
As a guy who starts looking when I get low, sometimes I get a "deal" other times I buy it when I need it, no matter what the price. Although I did make a little spreadsheet on my phone.... I type in the pounds of the bags, the number of bags and the price....it spits out the price per pound, no matter how it is packaged.
Why does it vary so much? It is "the way that it is" and changes just like gasoline?
